FILM SERVICES OFFICE

The Film Services Office (FSO) is part of the Create Hong Kong, Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

Its Vision is to:

• Maintain Hong Kong as a major film producing centre and to enhance its position as a film trading and service hub in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Its Mission is to:

• Create and maintain an environment conducive to the long-term and healthy development of the film industry;
• Facilitate film production in Hong Kong; and
• Promote Hong Kong films both locally and abroad.

The FSO provides a number of services that include:

• Facilitating film production, in particular location shooting in Hong Kong;
• Maintaining a resource centre and a dedicated website with information on local rules and regulations on location shooting and reference material relating to film production services;
• Assisting in the organisation of Hong Kong film festivals and film exhibitions;
• Facilitating the organisation of training programmes for the film industry;
• Regulating the use of pyrotechnics and other dangerous goods for producing special effects in film/TV production and theatrical performances; and
• Liaising between Government departments and the film industry on procedures relating to the operation of the film industry.
